Name: Solas Door: LEFT: "It is won by disregarding things that lie beyond our control." Canon: Dragon Age Canon Point: just after the end credits scene of Inquisition, before Trespasser. Age: actual age is unknown; looks to be somewhere in his early to mid forties physically Appearance: hobo egg man History: history for the most part can be found here. as for world state: I will try to follow canon provided by other players, but 1) if in the absence of other players, or 2) if there are more than one malleable protagonists (i.e. Lavellan, Adaar, Cousland, Hawke, etc), so I am not choosing one world state over another, major decisions are as follows: ORIGINS also, as a note: all DLCs have been played, any further details needed about the world state can be given, and I'm completely willing to change/be vague about this world state. to view a video with more information about this world state, go here. Personality: My name is Solas, if there are to be introductions. I am pleased to see you still live. Solas, even upon first meeting him, honestly does not seem that extraordinary. He is generally quiet, polite, and rather well mannered for one who has admittedly not spent much time out of the wilderness - especially for a hedge mage elf, like himself. He enjoys reading and study, often being found alone in his respective areas with little but books and candles for company. He even outright states how he is used to being on his own, and how his only friends tend to be spirits - beings formed from emotions and ideas in the Fade, which tend to be a bit different from the usual denizens of the world of Thedas, and often outright feared. He is also clever, tending to be almost unbeatable at chess and card games, and has a fearsome wit that is often used as a barb to those who bother him. He certainly is strange, however, and has enough red flags crop up just by existing in the merry world of Thedas to make others pause. Being an elf and a mage, for instance, is enough to make people treat him harshly or with caution, especially since he is not from a Circle - or from a Dalish clan, for that matter, which makes even the Dalish give pause. Solas' friendship with spirits and outright willingness to explore the Fade makes most think he's crazy, or at least extremely foolish. Just the fact he pops up, seemingly out of nowhere, and at exactly the right time to help makes even Cassandra - a Seeker for the Chantry, and one who could easily kill or imprison him - fear duplicity. The servants in Skyhold even note that he's a bit odd - having strange eating habits, and having very specific instructions for his tea. Even his skill at painting the frescos in a distinctly elven style makes people wonder, as few Dalish elves can even practice the art anymore. But, all of his strangeness seems to pale away easily in how he seems so non-threatening. His usually calm demeanor and introversion serves as one front, as well as how he presents himself. During his time in the Inquisition, Solas dresses simply, in clothing that looks worse for wear - or, like an "unwashed apostate hobo", to quote Vivienne and Dorian. His worn down, bland appearance makes him almost fade into the background, especially next to the flashy, grand members of the rest of the Inquisition. He comments to Blackwall that he used to be hot-tempered and always ready to fight when he was younger, and while he's certainly more calm-tempered now, he is still a force when angered. When a spirit friend of his is forced out of the Fade and to fight, which turns it into a demon, his sorrow is only overweighed by his rage. Solas outright will try to kill the mages who summoned it, only stopping if the Inquisitor calls out to him. When asked about the Dalish, he instantly seems to deride them, calling them fools for their views and how they treat elves that live in the cities. How they claim to be the last to hold any knowledge of the ancient elves makes him scoff, and he will reference times Dalish outright turned him away, calling him a madman and a liar. He seems to pity them and the city elves, and does not even consider himself to have much in common with any of them, as if he isn't an elf himself. Yet, he grows angry and defensive when people hurt elves - or anyone less fortunate and downtrodden - and will approve if the Inquisitor helps them. His only true passions seem to lie within the Fade, the world of dreams, where he says he has spent the majority of his time. Solas has used his ability to lucid dream to delve further than most dare to, allowing him to find slivers of history and knowledge long lost. He describes falling asleep in ruins purposely to watch spirits in the Fade reenact history, reflecting the different views and feelings of those who were once there. He has even befriended some spirits, who helped him find more and more. It seems as if almost everything he knows has come from the Fade, which turns out to be useful to the Inquisition in many key moments - such as finding Skyhold, discovering the origin of Corypheus' orb, and more. But, not all Solas knows was from the Fade. I was Solas first, the Dread Wolf came later. An insult I took as a badge of pride. The Dread Wolf inspired hope in my friends, and fear in my enemies. Not unlike Inquisitor, I suppose. In reality, Solas is not the no name apostate from the wilderness he seems to be. Using his unthreatening appearance and quite a few lies of omission, he managed to hide one very grand secret: He is the Dread Wolf, Fen'harel, a god out of Dalish and Elven legend. Except, legend is wrong. The gods - or Evanuris, as they were once called - were no gods, but extremely powerful mages who slowly rose from generals, to kings, to being worshipped as gods. Solas has seemingly detested being called a god from the start, and fought to free slaves and those trapped under the rule of the unjust "gods" that ruled over the elves in ancient times. He was the leader of a large rebellion, ready and willing to fight a war to free his people. But, at some point, his friend - and the only one of the Evanuris that he felt actually cared for their people - Mythal, was murdered by the rest of the Evanuris. In his anger and fearing they would destroy the world, he locked the Evanuris away by creating the Veil, which severed Thedas from the Fade. This sudden shock and loss of most of the magic caused the fall of Arlathan and the loss of immortality for elves - not the invasion of the Tevinter Imperium, which came later. Solas, now, as he stands, though currently missing from his friends in the Inquisition, is without any pretense. He had, over the years in and outside of the Inquisition, completely infiltrated it with agents. He did not control the Inquisitor or the Inquisition, but did help nudge them into place - and ensured both of their survivals. He led them to Skyhold. He helped make sure the Inquisitor did not die in those early hours after the Anchor formed on their hand. He made sure they found what they needed, and that he cleaned up the mess he helped cause. After all, he was the original owner of the orb that Corypheus wielded, and even allowed the magister the means to find it, hoping that he would unlock the orb so he could complete his plans. Which, unfortunately for everyone, basically means the destruction of Thedas itself. While he was waylaid by Corypheus surviving and using his orb to cause the Breach, let alone the rest of the mess it caused and the eventual unfortunate destruction of the orb, Solas is now back on the path he planned on. Solas plans to let the current world of Thedas burn by tearing down the Veil he created, allowing him to recreate the world of the elves as it was before. He assures that he is not a monster, however, and that his time with the Inquisition and the Inquisitor - who he even fell in love with if romanced - has changed him and his view of the current world. No longer are they just reminders of his failure, they are real, and he will make sure they live in comfort before they are destroyed. While he would welcome another plan, he cannot see another means to help the elves, and is willing to pay the ultimate cost - again - to do it. My people had a saying long ago - "The healer has the bloodiest hands." You cannot treat a wound without knowing how deep it goes. You cannot heal pain by hiding it. You must accept. Accept the blood to make things better. as for strengths and weaknesses: STRENGTHS Powers and Abilities:
